Product Description
SC722A001 is a single axis servo controller manufactured by Pacific Scientific in its SC720 series. The 7 series servo controller functions as a torque/velocity controller with encoder. It has 3.8A continuous current or 7.5A peak current rating. The unit also features a 12-bit RDC option code with 1024 ppr. The device is capable of exceeding 230VAC and/or 400VDC voltage rating. The servo controller has built-in fans that keep it cool when it is in use.
The servo controller must not be powered up with its chassis tied to the earth ground or without its cover. To shut down the unit safely, the power supply to the controller must always be disconnected. It is intended for use with brushless servo motors from the manufacturer. The device must be stored in a clean and dry place between a temperature range of -25°C to +85°C. It must be ideally stored in the original shipping carton during storage to avoid chances of damage. The rectangular unit weighs close to 14 pounds. It has 23W power dissipation at 50% of rated output current.
The servo controller must be mounted in vertical orientation using #10 or 1/4-20 bolts in a 10-inch deep NEMA cabinet that is meant for industrial applications. The single axis controller makes use of seven input or output cables for connection. The J1 motor cable helps in establishing a connection between the motor windings and the controller. The controller makes use of mating connectors. The cable tips must not be soldered before they are inserted into the connector in order to avoid a loose connection over a period of time. The power must be cut off from the servo controller if the motor cable is being connected to set up the motor terminal connection. The resolver cable must be an individually twisted-shielded cable for the output pairs.
