For applications across a large range of industries, like the packaging and processing, medical equipment manufacture, high-end printing technologies, etc., the need for highly reliable, durable and versatile servomotors is on the rise. To keep up with this demand, the Kollmorgen made R63GENP-R2-NS-VS-00 brushless servomotor is built to offer fast acceleration, improved dynamic response and a high level of damage protection (explosion proof).
For this motor, the permanent magnet used is made of a rare earth metal (samarium-cobalt). This ensures better performance than the conventional magnetics for servomotors. The motor is sized as a six-inch square frame, and it features three inches of rotor magnet stack length. This motor has no specialized part, and only features the standard options. Since the shaft and winding options determine a servomotor’s mechanical and electrical performance, this motor is fitted with an English-type shaft with a Viton shaft seal, a winding of the ‘G’ category, and no holding brake is included. Based on these design features, when coupled with an appropriate drive controller, this motor can produce a continuous torque of up to 8.3Nm at standstill. This is also great for overcoming its maximum static friction of 0.16Nm and providing continuous driving force under proper loading conditions. Due to degradation via friction and other losses, the rated torque is lower at 6.8Nm and it has a rated speed of 3,400 rpm. To further maximize the torque production of this motor, a permissible current of 33A at maximum can be generated in the windings to produce a torque of up to 20.5Nm.
Besides high torque and speed abilities, this motor comes with extra precision via an integrated transmitter-type frameless resolver (size 21). Although it does not offer a secondary feedback via an encoder, this motor is highly suited for applications that require basic accuracy in positional control, excellent performance range, and extreme ruggedness.
