Product Description
Pacific Scientific has continued to offer automation solutions in a consistent way without compromising on the quality of its products, thanks to its highly integrated systems. The ability to meet the clients’ needs has also been made possible by advanced technology, customer focus, and rigorous research to find the most suitable products. Additionally, Pacific Scientific does thorough and intensive testing on all their products such that what you get is fully functional and extremely durable. Some of the motion and hydraulic products manufactured by Pacific Scientific include step motors, permanent magnetic motors, and cables among others.
Below, we focus on the 6410-007-N-N-N stepper drive. It is used to convert direction and step inputs into motor winding current with a goal of controlling a two-phase stepper motor. For this drive to give you the expected outcomes, you need to operate it according to the manufacturer’s instructions. One way is through the maintenance of ambient environmental conditions. For instance, for minimum panel usage and optimum thermal performance, you should mount the 6410-007-N-N-N stepper drive bookcase style to a cooling plate. The ideal cooling plate is a heat sink or an aluminum plate with an adequate surface area and enough thickness to maintain the chassis temperature below 60oC. If you are not provided with a cooling plate, then you can get an optional heat sink from Pacific Scientific and mount to a panel by the slots on the back of the stepper driver.
To maintain the ambient temperature, there should be a minimal obstruction with a space of about 4 inches below and above the unit when cooling is through convection with no fan. The 6410-007-N-N-N stepper drive can be run at 5 Amps RMS maximum for an ideal temperature of a maximum of 25°C. However, for an ambient temperature of 45°C or less, use 2.5 Amps RMS.
