Product Description
The Pacific Scientifics’ 6410 Drive is used for converting step and directional inputs of the currents in the stepper motors winding to manage the two-phase stepper motors. Its key features cover mid-band instability compensation and micro-stepping to achieve a smooth operation with high resolution while operating between the slow speed and the mid-band sections. It has an output current range that can be selected using a dip-switch to values between 5A RMS at the peak rating of 7.1 A in micro-step mode and up to 0.625A RMS (for 0.88A peak in micro-step mode).
This 6410 drive provides regulated phase current for input 24 to75 Volts DC supply voltages with 5.0 Amps with +-- 0.25 %A and are intended to be used with Pacific Scientifics’ group of hybrid step motors. They work equally well with the standard line as well as the performance-enhanced line as long as the care is taken to ensure that the motor winding is matching with the drive's output current values. The drive circuit is designed to give out a nominal two-phase current regulated chopper frequency of 20 kHz, with a maximum stepper rate of 2 MHz when its step filter is disabled and 500 kHz when it is enabled. It works well within the ambient operating temperature range of 0 to 50° C with an optional heat sink and the humidity between 10 to 90%.
The 6410 chopper drive features the Pacific Scientifics' patented 4-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) for dynamic real-time control of the motor winding current. It combines the best of re-circulating as well as the non-re-circulating power regulation producing a large back-EMF rejection and low chopper ripple current. It gives many advantages such as a greatly reduced heat emission, low electric sound and enhanced current control during braking operations of the motor.
