Product Description
The 5645-024 is a stepper motor drive from the manufacturer Pacific Scientific. This comes in a package that provides a means for converting steps and direct input into a motor winding current. This unit can be used to control bipolar two-phase stepping motors. This particular unit has a selectable output current from 5 to 8 amps/phase RMS. The peak amp range is 7.1 to 11.3 amps and the unit uses a nominal dc bus of 160 volts. Your factory default setting will be 5 amps /phase RMS.
The 5645-024 is a very feature-rich unit. It is equipped with a full-wave bridge rectifier and features in-rush current limiting. It also has shunt regulator circuitry that helps to protect the drive by getting rid of any excess energy in the event the dc voltage goes beyond 200 volts. This type of voltage can be generated if the motor goes under particular deceleration conditions. It is also built with a short circuit protection circuitry which will turn the power fault lights on and latch the drive off in the event of the occurrence of a short circuit.
The 5645-024 stepper motor drive from Pacific Scientific further features an optical isolation circuitry which isolates user signals from the power circuits of the drive for command lines such as step, enable, direction or reset. There is also the mid-range instability control features which help to prevent torque loss and prevents the motor from stalling when operating at mid-range speeds. The unit can accomplish this task by delaying or advancing the output transistors switching.
The 5645-024 features five settings range that allows for ranges of full step to micro-steps which are fractions of a full step. The range for micro-stepping with this unit is ½ to 1/125 and up to 25,000 revolutions.
