Product Description
The 5445-230 is one of the hybrid stepper motor drives in the 5000 series by Pacific Scientific. The drive runs intelligent motion systems as well as cheap board-level drivers. It offers maximum performance, dependability, and easy-to-use software. It comes with an Indexer Functionality & Drive Configuration along with PacSci Stepper Basic programming language. The 5445-230 is a hybrid stepper motor drive that operates from 120 volts AC. The drive provides the required functions needed for converting step and direction inputs into motor winding currents, steering a 2-phase bipolar stepper motor.
The standard output of the stepper motor drive is 5.0 amps/phase with a DC bus of 65 volts. The 5445-230 is designed by for application with the SIGMA line of hybrid stepper motors by Pacific Scientific. The drive works well with either the SIGMA enhanced or the standard SIGMA line of high performing stepper motors. The winding of the hybrid stepper motor must be well-suited to the driver package output rating. The microstepping motor drive uses pulse width modulation to automatically regulate the currents of the motor winding (20 kHz chopping rate). It is an extremely efficient bipolar chopper.
The hybrid stepper motor drive accepts a current control output, step pulse, direction, and distributes the accurate outputs to drive 2-phase stepper motors. The three signal inputs are disconnected optically. The power supply comprises a step-down transformer that is line operated. The transformer’s outputs are fixed and controlled in case of logic supply to power the drive. A power dump circuit is incorporated into the supply to eliminate supply energy when the supply voltage increases beyond 80 volts. This can take place under particular deceleration circumstances.
