Product Description
The VAC5-D22 is an industrial servo drive from Okuma. Several precautions for dealing with the drive have been detailed by Okuma in the product documentation. These precautions include turning off the power supplies and discharging the electric charge inside the system before connecting or disconnecting the drive unit, ensuring that the power supply used for the drive has the proper specifications, checking the input and output connections of the units, ensuring proper grounding, setting the protective devices such as fuses or circuit breakers, using the appropriate control cabinet and use of thermostats for temperature protection. The VAC5-D22 includes an optical interface for NC communication. The VAC5-D22 can be used with motors with three different power ratings including 18.5 kilowatts, 22 kilowatts and 30 kilowatts. To deliver 18.5 kilowatts the VAC5-D22 needs to be connected to a supply that can deliver 28 kVA power output.
To deliver 22 kilowatts the VAC5-D22 needs to be connected to a supply that can deliver 33 kVA power output. To deliver 30 kilowatts the VAC5-D22 needs to be connected to a supply that can deliver 45 kVA power output. The drive is an upgraded version of the VAC3-22 which is part of the VAC3 series of products from Okuma. During normal operation the drive needs 0 to 55 degrees Celsius ambient temperature. Ambient temperatures that are outside of this range will cause the drive output to derate. The ambient temperature inside the control cabinet should be kept between 0 and 45 degrees Celsius. The storage temperature range for VAC5 drives is -20 to 60 degrees Celsius. The drive should be protected from vibrations during storage and during operation. The VAC5-D22 can sustain maximum 0.5G vibrations during normal operation.
