Product Description
Okuma is a Japanese manufacturer that provides solutions to the motion and logic control industry. Solutions from Okuma have been applied across different fields including aerospace, robotics, computerized cutting, machine manufacturing, and many others. The VAC motors by the company function with drive units which consist of power supply units and control printed circuit boards (PCB). The drive unit uses a magnetic encoder that is placed on the spindle shaft and is used for positioning and velocity control.
The VAC-MFL3.7-2.2R-151T is an AC spindle motor that has radial bearings specifically designed to function at very high speeds and also with high precision. It operates at a speed of 1500 rpm to 8000 rpm depending on the winding changeover specification. The motor overspeed is prevented by ensuring the motor signal cables are well connected. It is equipped with a resolver to monitor the angle of rotation of the motor. It also has six leads connected to low and high-range contactors to control the current reaching it. The motor is connected to the VAC drive unit by MATE-N-LOCK connectors. Only cables recommended by the manufacturer should be used to avoid motor malfunction.
There is an inbuilt thermal protector on the VAC-MFL3.7-2.2R-151T AC spindle motor, which monitors the temperature at which the machine is used and prevents motor overload. It should be operated at an ambient temperature of 40°C. Its cooling is with a cooling fan to prevent overheating. There is operation indication LED lights that indicate the operation status of the VAC-MFL3.7-2.2R-151T AC spindle motor. These LEDs respond differently to the different operating stages of the motor and are helpful in fault diagnostics.
