Product Description
The BL2-D series of servo drives from Okuma, a Japanese American manufacturing company, was initially terminated at the BL2-D150A type. However, due to requirements for larger power output from their newer flagship servomotor series, the BL2-D200A was introduced.
As indicated in its name code, the BL2-D200A servo drive has a 1-axis servo control board (SVC II). The ‘200’ is the power unit capacity, which is equivalent for driving motors with output power requirements above 8kW. Based on its special function code, ‘A’, this motor is optimized for driving brushless AC servo motors. By means of a servo amplifier, the required motion control signals from the SVC II are amplified in the required range and sent as a series of pulse width modulated current signals. Depending on the value of each signal, the motor either rotates clockwise or anti-clockwise in a pre-set number of steps.
The main advantage of this servo drive is its powerful torque speed characteristics due to its higher continuous and maximum current requirements—as compared with the other units within its series. To ensure reliable and fault tolerant operation, this servo drive comes with various circuitry to ensure the attached servo motor is protected from current surges, overvoltage and overloading. These protections are common with the BL2-D drive series, as Okuma complies strictly with the best practices in the design and manufacture of these units. Another common feature of the BL2-D units is the dynamic braking option. This is featured in the BL2-D200A as well, and it ensures an increased functionality for accurate motor deceleration. Precision, power, and reliable closed loop control, these are the distinguishing characteristics of the BL2-D200A servo drive.
