Product Description
The BL-D30A servo-amplifier made by Okuma is primarily a driving unit for a category of brushless servomotors. The general BL-D series were introduced by Okuma specifically to improve the performance guarantees of their BL-type servo motors. The Okuma brand being fully dedicated to ensuring a more-than-acceptable level of functionality and reliability is available through its products, designed the BL-D30A with the best practices in modern servo drive manufacture.
Fully specified via its naming convention, this drive unit is designed for compatibility with a set of servomotors within its power unit capacity. This is indicated by the ‘30’ in its code, which translates to a power unit capacity of 30; the following ‘A’ indicates the category of the drive i.e. A-type. The following BL-type motors are compatible with this servo-drive: BL-MH51E-20, BL-MQ50E-20, BL-MS50E-20, BL-MQ25E-20, BL-S45E-30, BL-MQ50E-30, BL-MQ25E-30, BL-H50E-20, BL-MH101E-12, BL-MS50E-20-1, BL-50E-20*. The BL-D30A features a few switches, and each of these motors have an expected connection configuration (or switch pattern) with this servo drive. It is quite important to ensure proper drive-motor configuration to ensure factory designated performance specifications with the servomotor.
Okuma products are always very reliable, maintainable and efficient. Hence, the BL-D30A features a few protective features to ensure that the connected servomotor operates optimally. The current signalling techniques used is pulse width modulation, through a solid-state device (a transistor). This ensures smooth, accurate and fast responses. By varying the current characteristics between continuous and intermittent (maximum) duty cycles, a precise closed loop control of the torque and speed characteristics of the motor can be achieved. The main logic component that signals this servo-amplifier is the servo processor board, which in this instance (for the BL-D30A) has a single axis.
