The MIV08-3-V5 is a state-of-the-art inverter unit manufactured by Okuma to carry out accurate motion control in the industrial servo system. This inverter unit forms a part of the Okuma motion control system. It operates in combination with a DC power supply unit that provides it with the digital signals it requires for operation. The MIV08-3-V5 industrial inverter unit features a modular design; under ideal operating conditions, this inverter unit can maintain an operational efficiency as high as 95 per cent for more than five years without requiring any major repair operation. The MIV08-3-V5 connects to the peripherals of the control system through three major links; the converter link, the encoder link and the servo link. The connection between the controller and all other parts of the servo system allows it to keep a tab on the operational status of other devices in the servo system and promptly notify the operator of any anomaly through its seven-segment light-emitting diodes.
The MIV08-3-V5 industrial inverter unit is integrated with a heatsink and internal air blower; these two components help to prevent the rapid build-up of heat in the housing of the servo system via forced ventilation. The MIV08-3-V5 operates with two types of electrical cable; the power cable through which it receives electrical signals from the DC power supply unit and the Signal cable, which is used in the exchange of digital signals between the inverter unit and all other parts of the industrial control system.
The MIV08-3-V5 industrial inverter unit contains an internal memory that holds important operational information and aids the quick startup of the inverter when it is required for operation. All parts of this inverter unit must also be regularly cleaned to prevent the rapid build-up of heat, which can interfere with the operation of the device.
