Product Description
Okuma is a manufacturer of industrial drive control systems and automation products for industrial motion control applications.
The E4809-045-019-A SDU-600-W is a spindle drive servo system that is used in the Okuma motion control systems. The spindle drive unit is also used with the OSP 5000 system which is famous for its ability to provide seamless control over lathe machines and CNC machining centers. The spindle drive unit is used with the lathe machines that use the 5000L CNC control. The spindle drive controller is similar to the LDU 600 axis drive manufactured by the company. Both these systems are thyristor-based control systems and are able to control the rotational speed of a DC motor by controlling the firing angle of the thyristors. For feedback purposes, the spindle drive unit’s motor is equipped with a tach generator.
The E4809-045-019-A SDU-600-W’s spindle uses an optical pulse generator as a feedback device. In the spindle drive unit, the MB velocity command feeds the SVP or ECP. The SVP or ECP is also connected with the pulse generator. The DA Conv feeds the velocity amplifier and the current amplifier that feeds the DC motor through a pulse shaft shifter. The pulse shaft shifter is also connected to the regeneration control. The output of the DC motor is connected with the tach generator. The spindle drive system also provides alarms for diagnostic purposes. A generic alarm is generated by the control when it receives the alarm signal. The alarm signal is then fed to the CRT. The alarm is designated as ‘level A’ alarm and is provided in CNC lathes as well as machining centers.
