Product Description

With Computer Numerical Control, machine tools can be controlled via a particular software. There are quite a few CNC solution providers but Okuma stands out amongst all of them. For nearly a century the Japanese company has invested time and effort and it’s been offering high-end computer-aided machines for improved productivity. When it comes to CNC systems, drive board or breaker board is an integral part. The E4809-045-109-D SVP board by Okuma is a 2-pound lightweight module yet it acts as a bridge between the main computer and other connected devices.

The E4809-045-109-D belongs to the series of SVP drive boards and it is a part of Okuma OPUS 5000 II drive system. Being one of the basic component, the E4809-045-109-D sits inside the controller box. It is positioned in the middle of the computer and the drive (or drives). Each drive is connected to the stepper motor that operates according to the stepper signal transferred to it. The E4809-045-109-D performs the basic task of distributing directional signals to the drives, as well as forwarding stepper signals to the stepper motors. In many CNC systems, the breaker board is not provided with power supply, instead drivers and stepper motors are connected with it. That depends upon the board’s specifications as well as its capacity to protect internal circuitry.

The E4809-045-109-D SVP drive board doesn’t only distribute signals upon predetermined automated commands, it is also responsible to protect the main computer from any malfunction in its circuitry as well as in the connected motor. Therefore, the E4809-045-109-D SVP drive board features optical switches (or opto-couplers) to detect any threat to the system brain and breaks the circuit then and there.
