Product Description
Okuma is a popular Japanese company that offers state-of-the-art solutions to the motion-and-logic control industry. With over 9 decades in the field, the Japanese solution provider has served many industries, like aerospace, robotics, machine manufacturing, computerized cutting, and many other. Moreover, the company offers complete solutions as well, such as VAC Spindle Drive Systems.
The part number E4809-045-084-E is a VAC board-A of the Okuma VAC spindle drive. This particular spindle drive board supports D8-A motors. The VAC drive top card by Okuma is positioned between the computer and the spindle drive. It is located inside the controller box of the Okuma spindle drive system and so its basic task is to distribute directional and stepper signals to the connected drives, onwards to the bipolar stepper motor. Going further, the E4809-045-084-E features quite a few slots to connect drives and the main computer. By doing so, it shares the burden of controlling the connected devices. The E4809-045-084-E features SPI interface that ensures smooth flow of signals from the computer to the connected motor. The drive top card also features encoding interface so that the user can set the algorithm to control the motor. In case of replacement, the spindle board can be installed easily, with the help of user manual.
As it is generally a breakout board, the E4809-045-084-E takes a bundled cable coming out of the computer and breaks it terminal wise. This, in turn allows multiple-device connectivity and ensures proper distribution of signals. At the same time, the VAC spindle drive board needs to ensure protection to its circuitry as well as attached peripherals. Therefore, the board features optical switches (also known as opto-couplers) to prevent the main computer from a spark, voltage fluctuation to a particular switch or the motor.
