The SS200D12 is an oscillator and analog speed follower designed by Kollmorgen to work with the Slo-Syn 2000 stepper motor drives in accurately controlling the rotational speed of industrial synchronous motor used in the servo system. This speed follower is specifically designed to operate in combination with the Slo-Syn 2000 stepper motor drive series; it can operate with any “pulse and direction” drive used in industrial production systems. The speed control carried out by this device is done through potentiometry adjustment and the analog speed following from a voltage or current level source. All parts of this industrial speed follower are designed according to the international quality specifications; this device can maintain an efficiency of about 95 percent while operating under ideal industrial conditions, as stated by Kollmorgen in the documentation of the device.
The SS200D12 oscillator and analog speed follower produces an output rate that is proportional to the analog input it receives; it allows industrial operators to choose from a range of maximum motor speed depending on the industrial application for which the analog speed follower is required. Apart from the maximum motor speed, the SS200D12 industrial speed follower also allows operators to adjust the acceleration, deceleration, and the low speed at which the industrial motor operates.
The major types of electrical cables used in the wiring connections of this industrial speed follower include the power cable and the motor feedback or signal cables. These two cables must meet international quality standards and must not be allowed to cross to prevent electrical coupling. Electrical interference can cause faulty operation in the digital logic used with this device; thus, any device that causes arcs, spacks, or that is capable of switching voltage or current at high frequencies should not be operated near this device.
