Product Description

The SERVOSTAR SP is considered as a premium quality servo amplifier that finds application in the precise control of industrial machines and processes, incorporating up to 10 ~ 14, and designed in such a way as to enable smooth processing of the signals received. Such key features include thermal protection using PTCs embedded on the motor winding to protect it from overheating, and the Tn, I time constant for the control loop where the control must be performed. Along with those, the amplifier provides positional move with cyclically absolute addressing of passive sensors by means of an SSI-interface as well as positional move with rate of change of velocity dependent on setpoint ramps, important in minimizing mechanical damage.

When the high frequency AC loads induce an AC potential difference in the sectional area of the amplifier unrelated to the HVDC line power, the power filter of the amplifier will provide smooth power supply protecting isolation standby and it accepts multiple communication interfaces such as CANopen, PROFIBUS or SERCOS. In order to improve accessibility, the -2CAN- expansion support module prevents simultaneous use of RS232 and CAN signals contained in one Sub-D connector. In this module further CAN connectors are fitted as parallel wired with 120 1/2 termination resistor which can be switched off for bus applications.

The installation of the -2CAN- module installations comprise of fixing it within the option slot in an amplifier and completion of the connection to X6. When motor cables surpass the range of 25 meters, it is recommended that motor chokes such as 3YLNxx be employed to decrease the velocity ripples and safeguard the output stage of the amplifier within the given pole speeds of the motor.

Frequently Asked Questions about SERVOSTAR SP

Q:

What thermal protection features are included in the SERVOSTAR SP?

A: The amplifier uses PTCs embedded in the motor winding to prevent overheating, ensuring safe operation and extending the motor's lifespan.

Q:

How does the SERVOSTAR SP manage position control and velocity changes?

A: The amplifier uses an SSI-interface for cyclically absolute positional addressing and setpoint ramps to control the rate of change in velocity, minimizing mechanical damage.

Q:

What communication interfaces are supported by the SERVOSTAR SP?

A: The amplifier supports multiple communication interfaces, including CANopen, PROFIBUS, and SERCOS, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into various industrial networks.

Q:

What is the purpose of the -2CAN- expansion module in the SERVOSTAR SP?

A: The -2CAN- module allows for the use of additional CAN connectors and prevents simultaneous use of RS232 and CAN signals on one Sub-D connector, enhancing communication flexibility.

Q: What precautions should be taken when motor cables exceed 25 meters?

A: When motor cables exceed 25 meters, it is recommended to use motor chokes such as 3YLNxx to reduce velocity ripples and protect the output stage of the amplifier at high motor speeds.

Internal Product Review

  • ‘‘Installation involves securing the -2CAN module within the SERNOSTAR SP amplifier's option slot and connecting it to X6. For motor cables exceeding 25 meters, using motor chokes, such as 3YLNxx, is recommended to reduce velocity ripples and protect the amplifier's output stage.’’
