The Superior Electric SE2222 is a digital DC motor controller. The SE2000 series to which the SE2222 belongs has different types of controller models including power unit only, basic on-off, rev-brake and run-brake. The basic on-off, run-brake and rev-brake models types also multiple have sub-models. The SE2222 is a run-brake controller with NEMA 4/12 enclosure without operators. The run-brake models include a motor contactor and dynamic braking. A contactor is used for switching electric circuits on and off. It is used for applications involving motors and electrical lighting. A conventional or electronic coil on controls the contactor. Dynamic braking is a feature that uses an electric traction motor for slowing a vehicle or a motor. The SE2222 can be used with motors rated for 0.5 to 2 Horsepower at 230 Volts AC or for motor rated for 0.25 to 1 Horsepower at 115 Volts AC.
The SE2222 can only be used with single-phase AC input. The controller is designed for vertical mounting as this orientation facilitates the flow of air over the heat sinks and helps to keep the ambient temperature within recommended limits. The temperature of air surrounding the controller should not exceed 40 degrees Celsius for units that are mounted inside an enclosure, or 55 degrees Celsius for chassis mounted units. The altitude of the controller should not exceed 1000 meters. The controller derates at higher altitudes. Air surrounding the SE2222 should be free of dust, moisture, and corrosive vapors. Height of the SE2222 is 8.5 inches, the depth is 5 inches and width are 7.25 inches. options for the controller include 2-pole circuit breaker, tach-generator, fault module, controlled deceleration stop and enhanced torque slope.
