The Kollmorgen S7720F-PBF2-S3 is a digital servo amplifier that is built into an electrical machine. The device can be operated only as an integral component of that machine. For wiring the device, only copper conductors must be used. Cooling or ventilation is necessary to keep the temperature within the control cabinet of the unit below 40°C. The product has expansion cards in all three slots. It has the PROFIBUS expansion card in the first slot. This card has two 9-pin Sub-D sockets, which are wired in parallel. The supply voltage for the card is provided by the amplifier.

The use of the S700 digital servo amplifier is prohibited in potentially explosive areas, including environments with corrosive and/or electrically conductive acids, vapors, alkaline solutions, oils, or dust. The unit contains electrostatically sensitive components. These are prone to damage from incorrect handling. Care should be taken to ensure that there aren’t any shocks to the device during transport. The product must be stored only in Kollmorgen’s original recyclable packaging. The maximum stacking height of the device is three cartons. This unit is registered under UL file number E217428.

If the S700 digital servo amplifier is stored for more than one year, its capacitors should be re-formed before the setup process. The delivery package of this product includes the servo amplifier, shielding plate, shield clamps, setup software, instruction manual, online documentation, and mating connectors X3A, X3B, X4, X9A, and X9B. The package does not contain the mating SubD connectors. The product incorporates an adjustable digital speed controller. The ambient operating temperature of the device is 0 to +40°C under rated conditions. The amplifier has IP 20 enclosure protection according to IEC 60529.
