The S7720F-FBF2-S4 digital servo amplifier by Kollmorgen can be used only with a motor that has Class F insulation or above. This servo amplifier uses a bus cable with a characteristic impedance of 120 Ohms to meet ISO 11898 specifications. The product supports three different ways of setting its station address. This device features a value between 0 and 63 for its station address. The unit has two LEDs near the terminals on the expansion cards. It tends to run roughly when the speed controller has a very high setting. This amplifier has a very hot housing with a surface temperature of more than 80 °C when it is under operation.

The product may restart automatically after a voltage dip if the AENA parameter has been set to 1. This device must be worked on by trained and qualified personnel only after the mains supply has been switched off and it has been secured against restart. The unit must have its electrical connection in the intact state when it is live. Its covers must be kept closed when its operation takes place.

This servo amplifier comprises electrostatically sensitive components that tend to get damaged because of improper handling. The product must be earthed safely to the PE busbar in the switch cabinet. This device must be fitted with a warning note about the occurrence of residual voltage and wait time of 10 minutes after the power supply has been disconnected. The unit has not been evaluated by the manufacturer for replacing the AC mains input with DC input. Its associated motor must have a rated voltage that is at least the same as the DC bus link voltage of the amplifier.
