The S7720A-PNF2-S4 is a digital servo amplifier launched by Kollmorgen. The unit comes with extended functionality. Only copper conductors must be used for wiring the device. The product should be mounted on a conductive surface. Transport of the unit should be done by qualified personnel in the original recyclable packaging supplied by the manufacturer. The device has a digital current controller and an adjustable digital speed controller. There is a 3-character LED display to indicate the status of the product after turning on the 24V supply. The Emergency Stop function of the amplifier is used to shut down the machine as fast as possible in a dangerous situation.

The rated input power of the S700 digital servo amplifier for continuous operation is 50 kVA. The unit’s rated DC bus link voltage is 290 to 675 V. The status of the device should be monitored by the PLC in order to acknowledge critical situations. If motor cables longer than 25m are used, a motor choke (3YLN) may be necessary based on the servo system. It is possible to connect an external brake resistor to X8 (-RB, +RB). It should be noted that an unsuitable motor, wrong mains voltage, or wrong wiring can damage the amplifier. The servo amplifier and motor combination should be checked.

The S700 digital servo amplifier can directly control a 24V holding brake in the motor. It is crucial to ensure that the device is earthed safely to the PE busbar in the switch cabinet. Without low-resistance earthing, personal protection cannot be assured. The user is not permitted to modify the product without permission from the manufacturer. The recommended tightening torque of the grounding bolt of the unit is 3.5 Nm.
