Product Description

The Kollmorgen S7720A-FBF2-S3 is a digital servo amplifier that has a two-channel STO function. The behavior of the device depends on the current settings of the different parameters. Wrong mains voltage, wrong wiring, or an unsuitable motor will damage the unit. The combination of the amplifier and the motor must be checked. The rated voltage and rated current of the devices must be verified. Excessively high external fusing can endanger cables and devices. It should be noted that correct wiring is crucial for the reliable functioning of the system. The power and control cables must be separately routed. A distance of at least 200 mm is recommended to improve interference immunity.

The status of the servo amplifier should be monitored by the PLC to acknowledge critical situations. If the motor cables are longer than 25 m, a motor choke (3YLN) needs to be used, depending on the system. The residual voltage drop of the device at the rated current is 6 V. The unit has a maximum noise emission of 68 dB (A). The height of the amplifier with connectors and shielding plate is 505 mm. It is possible to connect an external brake resistor to X8 (-RB, +RB). Before handling the components of the product, the voltage in the DC bus link must be measured, and the user should wait until the voltage drops below 60 V.

Devices that produce magnetic fields must not be mounted directly beside the S700 digital servo amplifier. Strong magnetic fields can affect the internal components of the drive. The product should be mounted and operated in a closed control cabinet. The device has an enclosure protection of IP 20 in accordance with IEC 60529 specifications.
