S7480A-SNF2-S3 is a servo amplifier. It is designed by Kollmorgen for current, speed and position control of industrial servo motors. It supports encoder based, resolver based and two more feedback evaluation methods. Motor feedback is an essential component of closed loop control systems, and allows the amplifier to accurately control motor parameters. A nameplate attached to the amplifier enables convenient identification. Input voltage rating of the S7480A-SNF2-S3 amplifier is 208 to 480 Volts AC. Direct connection to grounded AC mains is permitted. Connection to ungrounded AC mains is allowed when an isolation transformer is used for protection against surges and transients. Nominal output of the S7480A-SNF2-S3 amplifier is 48 Amps rms and the peak output is 96 Amps rms. The peak output is sustainable for 5 seconds. Kollmogen S700 amplifiers have a modular design.

Three expansion card slots are available at the front of the amplifiers. Operators can install expansion cards to match the amplifier to application requirements. Three expansion cards are installed on the amplifier, including a SynqNet card, a fan control card and a SIL 3 safety card. Dual-channel safe torque off is available as a standard feature. Ethernet and CANopen interfaces are also available as standard. The amplifier can be configured with DriveGUI setup software. This software can be downloaded from the manufacturer website. It is also available on the CD-ROM supplied with amplifier. A null modem cable is required for connecting the RS-232 interface on the amplifier to the serial interface on the computer running the setup software. Weight of the amplifier is 10.4 kilograms. It has an IP20 rated enclosure designed for vertical mounting. An internal cooling fan provides effective thermal dissipation.
