S7480A-SEF2-S3 is an industrial servo amplifier. It is designed and produced by Kollmorgen. Weight of the amplifier is 10.4 kilograms. Dimensions of the amplifier with packaging are 390 x 600 x 400 millimeters. Dimensions of the amplifier unit are 385 x 190 x 243 millimeters. The amplifier comes in an IP20 rated housing. It should be installed inside a switchgear cabinet. A nameplate attached to the unit allows easy identification. Information listed on the nameplate must be verified at the time of equipment delivery. Only trained personnel with relevant experience should install and operate the amplifier unit. The S7480A-SEF2-S3 amplifier has three expansion slots. All three slots are occupied by factory-installed cards. Slot 1 on the amplifier is occupied by a SERCOS II card. SERCOS is a standard for high-speed serial communication. It uses fiber optics as the physical transmission medium. It supports 8 Mbps and 16 Mbps transmission rates. SERCOS provides excellent performance because of collision-free transmissions with time slot mechanisms and a highly efficient protocol, combined with deterministic time behavior. Slot 2 on the S7480A-SEF2-S3 is occupied by a fan control card used to reduce noise emissions of the internal cooling fan. Slot 3 on the amplifier is occupied by a safety card. The working temperature range is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius and the storage temperature is -25 to 55 degrees Celsius. Altitude of the site used for amplifier installation should be less than 1000 meters.
