S7480A-PBF2-S3 is a S700 series servo amplifier from Kollmorgen. It is designed for industrial use. The main application of the amplifier is current, speed and position control of compatible servo motors. S700 series amplifiers are compatible with DC, linear, asynchronous and synchronous servo motors from Kollmorgen. Multiple feedback evaluation methods are supported, including resolver based and encoder based. Input voltage rating of the S7480A-PBF2-S3 amplifier is 208 to 480 Volts. The input power requirement for continuous output is 35 kVA. Rated output current of the unit is 48 Amps. The output can go up to 96 Amps rms for 5 seconds. Thermal dissipation of the unit is 24 Watts with output stage disabled. The thermal dissipation with enabled output stage varies with input voltage. Kollmorgen supplies the S7480A-PBF2-S3 amplifier with three pre-installed expansion cards, including a Profibus card, a fan control card and a safety card.

The Profibus expansion card allows amplifier connection to Profibus industrial networks. The fan control card is used for applications where there is a need for managing noise emissions of the internal cooling fan. Based on the ambient and heat sink temperature, the fan control card can switch off the fan, run it at half speed, or run it at full speed. Operating temperature for S700 amplifier is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius. The output derates at 2.5%/K when the ambient temperature is between 40 and 55 degrees. The ideal site elevation for S700 amplifiers is between 0 and 1000 meters. Output of the units dertes at 1.5%/100 meters at altitudes between 1000 and 2500 meters. The IP20 rated housing of the unit weighs 10.4 kilograms. Only trained personnel should work on the unit.
