S7480A-PBF2-PA is a Kollmorgen servo amplifier from the S700 series. It is designed for industrial applications requiring accurate motor speed and torque control. The amplifier is designed for use in closed loop control systems and supports four feedback evaluation methods. Three expansion card slots allow addition of optional features via hardware expansion cards. The S7480A-PBF2-PA amplifier features three expansion cards: a Profibus card, a fan control card, and a position I/O monitor card. The Profibus card allows connection to industrial Profibus networks. The fan control card manages the operation of the internal cooling fan to control noise emissions of the amplifier. The position I/O monitor card provides extra 5 Volts and 10 Volts digital inputs and outputs. Input voltage range for the S7480A-PBF2-PA amplifier is 208 to 480 Volts AC.

The nominal output is 48 Amps rms. This nominal output is available across the entire input voltage range. The thermal dissipation with output stage disabled is 24 Watts. The thermal dissipation at load varies with input voltage: it is 555 Watts at 230 Volts, 635 Watts at 400 Volts and 685 Watt at 480 Volts. The maximum DC bus link voltage is 900 Volts DC. At rated output the switching frequency of the output stage is 8 kilohertz, which can increase to 16 kilohertz when output current falls to 50% of rated output. The residual voltage drop at rated current is 6 Volts. Housing of the amplifier belongs to IP20 rated class. It is designed for installation inside a switchgear cabinet. Weight of the servo amplifier is 10.4 kilograms. Dimensions of the amplifier are 390 x 600 x 400 millimeters. Only trained personnel should work on the unit.
