S74802-DNF2-S3 is a modular servo amplifier. It is designed by Kollmorgen for closed loop control of industrial motors. Closed loop control relies on real time motor feedback. Sensors on the motor measure motor speed and position. Real time data from these sensors is sent to the amplifier. Software programs running on the amplifier compare motor feedback to configured parameters. Difference in the desired and actual motor parameters leads to a modification of the amplifier output. This process continues as long as the system operates. Closed loop control is a requirement for applications that require accurate and precise motor parameter control. S700 are compatible with multiple types of motors and support multiple motor feedback methods. These features, in combination with other integrated and optional features, make S700 amplifiers the product of choice for industrial automation applications. Standard features available on all S700 units include dual channel Safe Torque Off, three expansion slots for plug in modules, EtherCAT and CANopen connectivity, RS-232 serial for computer communication and a memory card slot. The optional memory card can be used to back up amplifier firmware and configuration parameters. All three expansion slots on the S74802-DNF2-S3 amplifier are occupied by factory installed plug in modules. A SIL-2/SIL-3 safety module occupies slot 3. A fan control module occupies slot 2. A DeviceNet module occupies slot 1. Transmission speed for DeviceNet can be set via the rotary switch on the front of the module. The minimum speed is 125 kbps and the maximum speed is 500 kbps. The DeviceNet baud rate can also be set by terminal commands. Input rating of the S74802-DNF2-S3 unit is 208 to 480 Volts AC and the rated output is 48 Amps.
