The SERVOSTAR-601-AS is a high-performance servo amplifier for precision motor control, incorporating additional features and high protection level for industrial utilization. It has a voltage rating of ~ 10 V for the differential input with a 14-bit resolution. For long-distance signal transmission without signal degradation, the amplifier maintains a characteristic impedance of 100-120 ohm/s and a maximum cable capacitance with 30 nanofarad/km. To ensure effective termination of signal lines 150 ohm ~5 simulating resistor is employed.
The system includes thermal protection which generally employs a PTC hidden inside a motor winding for temperature detection and control to prevent hazards. The SSI-interface gives out position outputs which are nearly absolute in a serial form to assist in accurate positioning. A supply filter for isolating power supply cable noise is contained in the servo amplifier together with setpoint ramps for restricting the rate of increase in the speed setpoint for proper motor control. There are internal count pulses that pulse after every 1/220 of a turn to feed back control accurately, also the brake circuit can waste constant power efficiently. The DC bus link provides controlled rectified and smoothed power voltage, promotes steady functioning of devices during load variations. Moreover, the amplifier is complemented with different types of fieldbus such as CANopen, PROFIBUS and SERCOS for system advancement.
Risk Management is as important as operating the SERVOSTAR 601-AS. First of all, one should never remove the electrical connections from the servo amplifier circuitry when it is energized, as the likely result would be the destruction of the electronics, or at the very best there is a risk that stored charges in the capacitors, which can be hazardous for up to 300 seconds, even after the power is switched off, could present a risk.
