The SERVOSTAR-406M-S is an advanced servo amplifier likely to work in industrial environments with a level of integration control and safety. This amplifier presents excellent electrical isolation sensitivity of 500V, but there is the possibility to include an optocoupler on the transceiver node side to enhance signal integrity and safety. It is designed with normal differential input impedance of Shunt C = 5pF and Shunt R = 25 K when on ensuring proper signal processing. The amplifier has absolutely no voltage limitations (absolute maximum rating) between -25V to +18V on the lines of CAN_H and CAN_L which helps in harsh industrial operations.
Most practical applications of the SERVOSTAR 406M-S have to do with the braking circuit of the device, which transforms the energy produced while braking into heat and prevents the hazards of overshoots. This circuit is constructed in order to assist in managing the constant amount of heat generated during the processes of braking. The unit further has a DC bus link termed power where rectified and smoothed power voltage is applied during the use of the unit to enable stability of unit performance with change in load.
There are various types of additional cards used with the amplifier as they can be interconnected with different system levels such as PROFIBUS DP, SERCOS, DeviceNet, EtherCat, and SynqNet. Thus, the unit can be easily integrated into a variety of industrial communication networks. In a case of CAN-bus or RS232 communication, a 2CAN expansion module in the form of a separate box with connectors is available providing system integration flexibility as well.
