Product Description
The Kollmogen U9D-H/HP ENC-SPCL is a Servodisc Platinum series servo motor. Servodisc motors differ from conventional motors in that they have an iron-less disc armature. This feature of Servodisc motors enables delivers of a higher level of performance than that of conventional ironcore motor designs. The armature on Servodisc motors is constructed from multiple layers of copper conductors in a flat-disc design. There are several advantages of Servodisc motors for motion control applications. The Servodisc armature is smaller and lighter than ironcore designs. Servodisc motors accelerate up to ten times faster than conventional servo motors: a typical Servodisc motor can accelerate from 0 to 3000 RPM in 60 degrees of rotation. Servodisc motors have zero cogging at all operating speeds. In addition to performance advantages, Servodisc motors come with a unique shape which can be a suitable alternative for tight packaging solutions.
Servodisc motors have a very low electrical time constant that results in faster torque output compared to conventional motors. Servodisc motors also offer high peak torque capability as compared to conventional ironcore motors. The absence of iron leads to negligible induction which leads to very low arcing. The elimination of arcing leads to a very long brush life for most applications. Servodisc motors are available in a wide range of sizes for every application: motors with 30 Watts to 4.5 kilowatts output power ratings are available. Options for Servodisc motors include IP65 rating, hardened commutator, optical encoders, integral tachometers, aluminum armature, forced air cooling, internal/external tachometers, industrial covers with MS connectors, and fail-safe brakes. The U9D-H/HP ENC-SPCL has a rated speed of 3000 RPM. Only qualified personnel should install and maintain Servodisc motors.
