Product Description
The Kollmorgen 502-03814-40R1 is a CPU module. It is compatible with PiC900 control systems. The PiC – short for Programmable Industrial Computer – is a combination of software and hardware that allows control of applications as per customer specifications. The CPU module such as the 502-03814-40R1 integrates the hardware and software elements of the system. The hardware of the PiC system is comprised of a rack, hardware module and I/O connections. The PiC has modular hardware that makes the system easy to configure. The PiC system is usually used in a configuration where it interfaces with a computer workstation or an operator interface. Even though this is usually the case, the PiC system can operate without interfacing with a workstation or an operator interface. The 502-03814-40R1 belongs to the Turbo2 family of CPU modules.
The 502-03814-40R1 is based on a 80486DX processor and is clocked at 25 megahertz. It has 256 kilobytes of application memory and 32 kilobytes of user memory. The CPU module can handle different number of servo modules at different update rates: it can handle 32 / 16/ 8 / 4 / 2 servo modules at 8 / 4 / 2/ 1 / 0.5 millisecond update rates. The 502-03814-40R1 uses the PiCPro RS-232 serial port for interfacing with the workstation. It uses the RS-232 port labeled user port for interfacing with devices with serial interfaces such as operator terminals. Ambient specifications for the CPU module include 7 to 55 degrees Celsius operating temperature, -40 to 85 degrees Celsius storage temperature, and non-condensing relative humidity of 0 to 95%. The 502-03814-40R1 conforms to ICS 3-304 for noise immunity. It also conforms to IEC publication 801-part 2 level 1, 2, 3 and 4 for electrostatic discharge.
