Product Description
The Kollmorgen 502-03510-41R1 is a CPU module for the PIC 900 system. The PIC is a combination of hardware and software that allows control of applications as per desired specifications. A CPU module on the PIC system integrates the hardware and software elements. The CPU module executes the application program, executes diagnostics on the system and its modules, and communicates via the RS-232 ports to external devices. The 502-03510-41R1 is based on a 80C186 CPU. The clock speed for the module is 8 Megahertz. The application memory is 256 kilobytes, and the user memory is 32 kilobytes. The 502-03510-41R1 can serve 6 servo drives at update rate of 8 milliseconds, 4 servo drives at update rate of 4 milliseconds, 2 servo drives at update rate of 2 milliseconds and 1 servo drive at update rate of 1 millisecond.
The 502-03510-41R1 CPU contains a processor integrated circuit, RAM or EPROM memory which contains the application program, ROM memory which contains the operating system and serial ports for communication with workstations. The CPU module must always be installed in the second slot from the left in the system rack. The 502-03510-41R1 has two serial ports: the PiCPro port is provided for communication with workstations and the User port 2 is provided for communication with an optional serial interface device such as a touch screen, a handheld controller or other serial interface device. Another function of the CPU module is to run diagnostic tests on each module in the system rack on power on. A diagnostic LED on the front panel of the 502-03510-41R1 is on when the CPU is being tested. Operating temperature for the CPU module is 7 to 55 degrees Celsius.
