Product Description

Kollmorgen is a manufacturer of high quality motion control systems and designs high quality control units.

The MX2000-8 is a highly functional drive control system produced by the company. This model is based on a digital signal processor and is able to multitask. The controller has the ability to take on up to seven complex motions at a time. This programmable machine controller has the ability to control from two to eight stepper or servo drives. The system operates on a 90 to 132 VAC on a 50/60 Hz frequency. The device has a built-in AC line filter and MOV’s. There is plenty of processing power available with this model due to its state-of-the-art computer hardware. The controller is equipped with a basic two-axis system consists of three major circuit cards. The circuit cards are able to communicate using a passive backplane and are housed in a rugged enclosure.

The MX2000-8 is supported with serial ports on its DSP card that allow communication with the controller. It is possible to operate the ports as RS232 and RS485. This programmable controller has the ability to communicate with ‘dumb’ and ‘intelligent’ operator interfaces. The device can control machines using simple switch interfaces. The device is also provided with a stepper interface and standard pulse and direction signals are provided in the Axis Card. This controller can be easily programmed in user units such as revolutions and inches. This feature is enabled because of the extensive math functions available with this model. The system is also equipped with an analog drive and analog outputs can be used as the torque control command for servo drive.
