The MMC-D8A2 by Kollmorgen is a product in the MMC smart drive control family that offers all the requirements for high-performance machines and motion control solutions. Generally, MMC drive controls are available in variants that are compatible with either a 230 Volts single phase MMC smart drive or a 460 Volts 3-phase smart drive variant. They feature plug & play feedback and power cables, standard auxiliary feedback and an integral power supply. The MMC-D8A2 can efficiently control 8 MMC-SD smart drives. It can be parameterized via the PiCPro tools used for PiC controls. It features DC 24 V built-in expandable I/Os. The major components of this unit include a serial port, general I/O ports, the CPU and a Block Input/Output port.
The MMC-D8A2 features several LEDs including an Ethernet Activity LED, an Ethernet Link LED, a Scan LED and a Diagnostic LED. In general, MMC smart drive controls can be installed into MMC-SD drive of 230 Volts and 460 Volts. It depends on electric signals and is designed to be used in industrial environments. The MMC-D8A2 can also be connected to external devices via several optional accessories.
The Central Processing Unit (CPU) on the MMC-D8A2 is a 32-bit RISC processor that features numeric coprocessing. It has an application memory of 384 KB, RAM of 256 KB and a user memory of 64 KB. This device has 8 axis control and 8 solid-state switches. Its turn off/on time is 1 ms, and it has a maximum output current of 0.25 Amperes. The MMC-D8A2 also has a nominal voltage of DC 24 Volts and a voltage range of DC 5 Volts – 30 Volts.
