The Kollmorgen M GOLDLINE series of motors has brought value and added performance to a wide range of industrial applications. Through the use of high energy rare earth magnets, the motors provide exceptional continuous torque performance. This family of motors features low inertia, medium inertia, and explosion proof motors. Kollmorgen GOLDLINE series motors are designed to be used with a SERVOSTAR digital amplifier, helping them reach optimal performance. The amplifier has an in-built encoder which enables the motors to operate without a feedback device. Other functionalities provided by the Kollmorgen SERVOSTAR amplifier includes self-tuning and three control algorithms.

The M-803-A-A9-B3-024 is a Kollmorgen GOLDLINE medium inertia motor recognized by Underwriters Laboratories. The motor has a high torque to volume ratio, features a rugged resolver feedback, and has an ingress protection rating (sealing) of IP 65. Note that the M-803-A-A9-B3-024, being a medium inertia motor, has a better performance when interfaced with systems that have large inertia mismatches or complaint loads. The function of temperature regulation inside the motor’s frame is reinforced by the present of a built-in thermostat enabling the motor to provide optimal performance.

To help deploy the M-803-A-A9-B3-024 in a wide range of industrial applications, the motor is designed to support options such as front mounted gearheads, a fail-safe brake, NEMA mountings, and encoder feedback, among others. To effectively use the motor on the industrial floor, the Kollmorgen SERVOSTAR digital amplifier must first be installed in the system via the Kollmorgen MOTIONLINK software. The amplifier can be set to run in either current or velocity mode using either a serial or analog command. Since no one setting is ideal to run the M-803-A-A9-B3-024, MOTIONLINK allows motor jogging to evaluate key operation variables.
