Product Description
With the introduction of Kollmorgen motors on the industrial floor, optimum performance for applications that have large inertia mismatches, rapid deceleration and or acceleration, and compliant loads can be achieved. For example, the Kollmorgen Goldline servo motors offers co-engineered modifications to help support a wide range of industrial application needs. The Goldline series of servo motors utilize a permanent magnet that helps deliver exceptional torque and power density in a medium or low inertia.
The M-405-D-21 is a medium inertia Goldline servo motor designed and manufactured by Kollmorgen. Medium inertia motors in this series are available with either an encoder or a resolver for positioning, speed and commutation, and have an in-built thermostat. They support NEMA and metric mounting, have class H insulation, and have a rated input voltage of 230 Volts AC. Other available options include a brush tachometer, an ingress protection of IP 65 or IP 67, bayonet, flying leads or MS connections, and encoder adapters. The M-405-D-21 uses a rare earth magnet that enables the motor to reach maximum torque output. Kollmorgen Goldline motors support the option of fail-safe brake which has a holding torque of 2.3 N-m.
The Kollmorgen Goldline M-405-D-21 has a rugged design. For optimal performance of the motor, it should be installed and operated in an industrial environment with an adequate flow of air. Being a servo motor, the M-405-D-21’s frame is likely to reach extreme temperatures during operation. Therefore, the motor should be allowed enough cooling time after switching off before touching the frame. The M-405-D-21 has a viscous damping Z source rating of 0.018 N-m, a static friction rating of 0.26 N-m, and has four poles.
