Product Description
The KSM 122-2A is an axis extension module manufactured by Kollmorgen. It’s designed to be used with Kollmorgen modular fail-safe control system such as the KSM 100 series. The module can be used for functionalities such as safe operating stop (SOS), safe direction indication (SDI), safe cam (SCA), safe emergency limit (SEL), safe analog control (SAC), among others. When installing the KSM 122-2A, signal and contact monitoring lines should be routed differently. Also, high voltage wiring should be separated from low voltage wiring. Note that cable lengths, especially for digital inputs, should not exceed 30 meters. However, where the cable length must exceed 30 meters, fault exclusion measures should be provided.
The Kollmorgen KSM 100 series supports connectivity options such as EtherCAT, Profinet, EtherCAT FSOE slave, CANopen, and PROFIsafe. By being part of a motion safety system, the KSM 122-2A plays a huge role in allowing machine operators to interact with the system without interruption. For example, safety functionalities such as safe limit position (SLP) monitors areas with unsafe motion and allows the machine to intervene without extreme process interruption. This allows the machine operator to stay at a safe distance.
The KSM 122-2A, as with other Kollmorgen safety solutions, allows for a flexible and expandable safety solution, reduces system costs, and increases system productivity. The module features analog inputs and process a maximum of 2 analog signals. Analog inputs on the module have a minimum and maximum voltage rating of -7 Volts DC and +10 Volts DC respectively. The module has a fixed loading resistor with a resistance of 500 Ohms. Note that the response times of the analog input filters in relation to the input frequency.
