Product Description
The KSM 122-2 is an expansion module designed and manufactured by Kollmorgen. It’s part of Kollmorgen Safety Modules (KSM) which provide safe motion where two drive axes with enhanced encoder interface is involved. The KSM 122-2 has 12 safe inputs to connect external safety devices. Some safety features include a proof-test-interval of 20 years, a Class 4 architecture, a safety integrity level (SIL) of 3, and a Pl-e performance level as defined in the EN 13849 directive. The module uses pluggable terminals for its connectors, a 4/SSI encoder interface, supports a maximum frequency of 200 kilo Hertz (SMX) but the encoder external board supports 250 kilo Hertz.
The Kollmorgen expansion module measures 100 millimeters by 115 millimeters by 90 millimeters for its height, depth, and width respectively. The KSM 122-2 has a rating of 2.4 Watts power consumption rate. The module is designed to be operated in an environment with a surrounding temperature of between 0.0 degrees Celsius and 50.0 degrees Celsius. It can be stored in an environment with a temperature ranging from -10.0 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius. For the voltage, the rated data digital In voltage stands at 24 Volts DC with a current rating of 20 milli Amperes, and 12 safe digital input lines.
The KSM 122-2 weighs 470 grams and has a maximum terminal cross-section of 1.5 millimeters (squared). Note that Kollmorgen safety modules support safety functions such as safe limited position, safe torque off, safe brake control, safe limited speed, among others. The module’s power is supplied via the basic module. Also, the cross circuit monitoring by pulse outputs of the basic module.
