Product Description
The KSM 100-2-EC is a safety controller from Kollmorgen. It’s part of the Kollmorgen KSM-modular safety controllers. Controllers in this family are employed in a system that requires high level safety features and a large number of interfaces. Additionally, controllers in this series support CFC programming with SafePLC which allows graphical hardware configuration through a terminal plan, supports configurable function blocks, universal diagnostics, monitor, and analysis tools, and scope monitor for motion safety functions. The KSM 100-2-EC has an integrated EtherCAT communication interface, can support up to 8 expansion modules and 12 axes.
The KSM 100-2-EC, as with other Kollmorgen safety controllers/modules, allows an operator to intervene without interrupting automated processes, enhances safe motion instead of safe shutdown, combines drive monitoring and safety control in a single device, and reduces development time by featuring a comprehensive safety function library. Note that Kollmorgen controllers with a modular design are easy to upgrade to accommodate changing application requirements. Functionalities provided by Kollmorgen KSM safety controllers include safe stop functions (safe torque off, safe stop 1, safe stop 2, safe operating stop, etc), safe velocity functions (safe limited speed, safe speed range, etc), safe direction functions (safe direction, etc), safe position functions (safe limited position, safe limited increments), and safe brake functions (safe brake control, etc).
The KSM 100-2-EC has a rated operating voltage of 24 Volts DC, a power consumption rating of 3.2 Watts, and an electrical tolerance of between a minimum of -15 percent and a maximum of +20 percent. Connections to the controller are made via the controller’s pluggable terminals, with the terminal cross section measuring 1.5 millimeters (square). The controller has a standard ingress protection of IP 52.
