The B-404-C-A3 is part of the Kollmorgen GOLDLINE series of servomotors. Motors in this series are characterized by a maximum speed of up to 7500rpm, resolver feedback, and a compact size measuring 2.76 to 7.48 square inches. The B-404-C-A3 comes with exceptionally high energy rare earth neodymium-iron-boron magnets that increase the torque of the motor. The compact package provides a lightweight servomotor that comes in the much-needed brushless construction. The motor comes with industrial-grade connectors and a frameless resolver. As part of the B series, it provides low inertia rotors allowing optimum performance in applications that require rapid acceleration and deceleration.

The B-404-C-A3 features a high torque to volume ratio, a built-in thermostat that monitors the temperature in the motor, a rear shaft extension, and an IP 65 protection category. The NEMA mountings allow the user to install it on numerous mounting surfaces. The fail-safe brake to protect it from overload. Other options include front-mounted gearheads, sealing with IP 67 protection category, Encoder feedback, and mating connectors. The SERVOSTAR digital amplifier that is used with the B-404-C-A3 features a compact and fully digital design that simplifies installation and system set-up. It comes with three control algorithms and a self-tuning functionality that allows high performance to be reached quickly.

The amplifier features a velocity or torque control, analog or serial command, fully digital control loops, and a self-tuning to the load. The three control options include Pole Placement, PI, and PDFF. The amplifier utilizes PC-based MOTIONLINK software that allows easy and quick installation and setup of the system. The B-404-C-A3 is used in conjunction with the SR20 amplifier. It has a weight of 27.5kg, a maximum speed of 5000rpm, and continuous power of 5.4kW.
