The IL18100A3TRC1 direct-drive linear motor is one of the various ironless motors from Kollmorgen in its IL18 series. The motor is constructed using minimum machine parts and has a compact mechanical assembly. The device features a low mass coil assembly that makes it ideal for high accelerations. It is capable of rendering very low speeds and smooth motion with zero backlash and high positional accuracy. The motor is capable of generating velocity ripple and very low force. The unit features a 0.5mm air gap.

The device features a clean and quiet operation without lubrication and has reduced audible noise with a very long life. It functions as a brushless three-phase servomotor with a flat rotor. The motor has no slots or iron for winding the coils. The unit has a 127.30mm coil width. It implements the Hall Effect feedback option for commutation. The flying leads have 400m length.
