Ironcore Linear motors are high acceleration models and they’re mostly used in accelerating large masses. Moreover, they can also be used to maintain stiffness in machining process. The Ironcore Linear motors usually feature stainless steel lamination in the coil assembly. This lamination helps in maximizing the magnetic force generated by the magnet assembly. Kollmorgen Danaher Motion is a leading manufacturer of Ironcore Linear motors. The engineering firm has introduced several different product lines, including the ICD05 and ICD10, both featuring lots of variety in terms of magnet assemblies and coil types. 

The part number MCD0300256001 belongs to the Ironcore Magnet Ways series and it is the main component of the ICD05 and ICD10 motor models. The MCD0300256001 magnet assembly by Kollmorgen Danaher Motion features a magnet length of 256mm and it has a mass of 2.70 kg/m approximately. The magnet assembly is featured with coil types ICD05-030 and ICD10030. Both the coil types have 55.0 mm wide and feature 3 mounting holes. The mass of the ICD05 coil assembly is approximately 0.62 kg while that of the ICD10 coil assembly is 1.1 kg. Unlike ordinary Ironecore motors, the ICD motor series by Kollmorgen features low force of attraction. For example, the MCD030-0256-001 magnet assembly offers 0.53 kN coupled with the ICD05-030 coil assembly while with the ICD10-030, it offers 1.06 kN of the magnetic force. 

For maximum protection against motor damage, the magnet assembly and the coil assembly are separated by a durable stainless steel shim, plus the magnet assembly also features stainless steel cover. The ICD Magnet Ways magnet assemblies have been evaluated by Underwriters Laboratories and they meet UL/cUL 508C standards for Canadian and U.S markets. The ICD030 Ironcore servomotor series meets the requirements of the EC Directives as well.
