Product Description
Kollmorgen is an internationally recognized provider of the latest motion control technology which allows industrial automation to become much simpler and easier. Kollmorgen’s latest range of IC ironcore linear motors are becoming extensively popular for the flexibility and simplicity that they offer, allowing users to integrate them into a wide range of motion control applications without the need to customize any given component. The strategic design of the motors in their IC Series allows factory machines to move high masses at continuous speeds with high positional accuracy.
Kollmorgen’s IC1105A1P1106 is part of the IC Series and is characterized as an ironcore linear motor. While the IC1105A1P1106 motor is extremely simple to operate once installed, special attention must be diverted towards the assembly of this motor as the ironcore linear motor is equipped with coils wound on silicon steel laminations. In typical applications, the IC1105A1P1106 motor’s coil assembly and encoder reader head must be mounted to the same plate and independently aligning the two together to provide ease in operation. If the coil is installed from the top, the mounting holes must be slotted accordingly to allow for an airgap between the coil and magnet way.
The setup airgap is necessary to prevent overheating of the IC1105A1P1106 motor and should be made on the reference side of the magnet way (the side in contact with the stage-mounting surface). Additionally, to ensure that the IC1105A1P1106 ironcore linear motor operates effectively, the stage should be designed to center the coil in the magnet way including space for adjustment to ensure a safe distance between the coil and magnet since the relationship between the moving coil and the stationary magnet with a high attractive force is critical.
