Product Description
The IDC B8962-30K is a 2-axis drive with 30 kilobyte user program memory. The command interface on the drive is a RS-232C interface with 3-wire implementation that supports 9600 baud. A maximum of 99 drive units can be supported over a RS-232C daisy chain. The drive has 8 optically isolated programmable inputs. All inputs are active low. The minimum input current is 12 milliamps, and the maximum input current is 35 milliamps. The encoder input on the B8962-30K draws 200 milliamps at +5 Volts AC. Maximum frequency of the differential incremental encoder is 1.5 megahertz. The B8962-30K has 8 optically isolated open-collector type programmable outputs. The output voltage range is 5 to 24 volts DC and each output can source a maximum of 100 milliamps. Thermal shutdown of the B8962-30K occurs if the heatsink temperature exceeds 55 degrees Celsius.
The maximum motor temperature is 135 degrees Celsius. Power input specifications for the B8962-30K include 90 to 230 Volts AC (single-phase, 50 / 60 Hertz), maximum 2300 VA at 115 Volts AC and maximum 4600 VA at 230 Volts AC. The B8962-30K can deliver 5 Amps continuous and 10 Amps peak at the motor output. The motor output is internally fused and is protected against short-circuits. An optional front panel can be ordered for the B8962-30K which can be used for drive programming and for operator input. The panel features a menu-driven setup, help function, diagnostic screen and program debugging. The panel includes backlit 40-character display and a keypad. The IDC Motion application developer software is included in the shipment containing the drive. Other accessories that can be ordered from IDC include a thumbwheel input module and external regenerative power dissipation modules.
