The B8962 is a dual-axis smart servo drive. It has two axes of independently configurable amplifiers. It is manufactured by Industrial Devices Corporation (IDC). The drive comes with a FP220 front panel which supports both programming and input functions and includes a 40-character display. Input power specifications for the B8962 are as follows: 90 to 240 Volts AC (single-phase) input at 50 / 60 Hertz, 2300 peak power input at 230 Volts AC and 1150 VA peak power input at 115 Volts AC. Specifications for motor output are as follows: continuous current at 5 Amps and peak current at 10 Amps. The motor output on the B8962 is protected against phase-to-phase short circuits and short circuits to ground. The motor output on the drive is fused.
The B8962 has an encoder input and supports a differential quadrature incremental encoder. Diagnostic output on the drive is a 0 to 5 Volt signal that is centered at 2.5 Volts. The B8962 has an integrated communication interface which is a RS-232 serial interface which supports maximum rate of 9600 baud or symbols per second. The drive has a heat sink and is designed to shut down if the heat-sink temperature exceeds 55 degrees Celsius. An optional fan kit can be ordered for the heat sink to applications that require higher operating temperatures. The ambient humidity should be maintained within 0 and 90%. The B8962 supports absolute and incremental position adjustment. The acceleration range is 0.01 to 999.99 revolutions per seconds squared. IDC provides application development software on CD-ROM with the drive. Only trained and qualified technical personnel should install and maintain the B8962 servo drive.
