The AKM73Q-KKC2C-01 is a durable servomotor manufactured by Kollmorgen. It is intended to be driven by a servo amplifier from the SERVOSTAR series under torque and/or speed control. The motor comes with an open keyway shaft and a shaft seal. The Teflon shaft seal ensures IP67 protection for the shaft area. The shaft seal is pre-lubricated by FDA grease. The shaft is balanced using a short (half) key. A fan is available for this motor for forced ventilation. There should be a minimum space of 25 mm behind the fan guard to ensure free airflow for the fan. The servomotor should be protected from unacceptable stresses. So, special care should be taken when transporting and handling the device. The AKM servomotor has a spring applied brake (24V DC) integrated into it. When the brake is de-energized, it blocks the rotor. The holding brake of the device is designed as a standstill brake and is not suited for repeated operational braking. When the holding brake is mounted, the motor length increases. The standard weight of the device is 26.7 kg. Lifting eyes should be used to transport the motor safely due to its excess weight. The rated speed of the motor with the fan is 3000 rpm at 400 VAC and 3500 rpm at 480 VAC. The site of motor installation should be free of aggressive and conductive material. In the case of IM V3 mounting with the shaft pointing upwards, care should be exercised so that no liquids enter the bearings. When the device is under operation, connectors should not be unplugged. Touching exposed contacts of the motor can result in severe injury or a risk of death. It’s because even if the motor shaft isn’t rotating, the power connections could be live. This can lead to flashovers resulting in damage to the contacts and injuries to persons.
