Product Description
The AKM53K-ACCNAA-00 servomotor from the house of Kollmorgen is a synchronous motor that is designed for challenging servo applications. This AKM motor doesn’t come with brushes because the servo amplifier electronically performs the commutation. The device is enameled in matt black color. However, this finish isn’t resistant to solvents such as nitro-thinners and trichloroethylene. The motor features ball bearings. The life of these ball bearings is 20,000 operating hours. The bearings must be replaced after 20,000 operating hours. The motor should be checked for bearing noise once every 2,500 operating hours. In the case of any noise, the bearing should be replaced.
The AKM servomotor must have an earthing connection on both its casing and the mounting plate. The surface temperature of the motor is very hot when it is live and it poses a risk of light burns when touched. So, the device should be touched only after the surface cools to a temperature of below 40°C. The servomotor comes with an electrically isolated PTC. It must be noted that the PTC does not provide any protection against short, heavy overloading. The product comes with a keyway shaft. Axial loads must be avoided on the servomotor shaft as much as possible because axial loading tends to shorten the life of the device.
The standard weight of the AKM servomotor is 7.4 kg. Its static friction torque is 0.0058 Nm. The radial load permitted at the shaft end of the motor at 3000 min-1 is 450 N and the axial load permitted at the shaft end at 3000 min-1 is 180 N. Precaution should be taken when operating the device and disconnecting its power connections. Even when the unit is not rotating, the power connections could be live. So, never disconnect the power connections of the motor when it is energized. Doing so can result in flashovers leading to injuries to persons and damage to the contacts.
