Product Description
The DC-powered motors space was disrupted by the introduction of Kollmorgen AKM motors. AKM motors are supplied with a resolver as a standard feedback element allowing them to be used in an environment with relatively higher levels of dust, shock, vibrations, and electrical disturbances. Kollmorgen AKM series motors are available with or without a holding brake. Note that holding brakes are designed to be used to hold the motor’s shaft into position when the motor is at standstill and not for stopping the shaft when in operation. AKM motors supplied without a holding brake are meant to be used in an environment that does not require a holding brake because the brake cannot be retrofitted. To effectively unleash the power held by AKM motors, a Kollmorgen digital amplifier is required for control.
The Kollmorgen AKM52G-EKCN2-00 is a servo motor in the AKM family. This motor is supplied with standard factory customizations. Fitted with a comcoder delivering 2048 pulses per revolution, the motor can be interfaced with applications requiring precise positioning. By employing permanent magnets in its rotor, the AKM52G-EKCN2-00 has a significant performance in its torque and has a steady magnetic field.
The AKM52G-EKCN2-00 is supplied without a holding brake and because fitting a brake in the field is impossible, the motor is meant to be used with applications that are not likely to cause the motor’s shaft to rotate unintentionally when at standstill. With an operating temperature rating of between 5 and 40 degrees Celsius, the motor is well suited to be deployed in a wide range of industrial environments. The AKM52G-EKCN2-00 is fitted with ball-bearings that are adequately greased and have an operating lifespan of 20,000 operating hours.
