Product Description
The Kollmorgen AKM series of synchronous servo motors comprise motors that are designed to be powered by a direct current. DC-powered motors have a higher starting torque, can support variable speeds even when powered by a low voltage, they are pocket friendly and easier to control. Note that a higher starting torque allows AKM series motors to effortlessly absorb sudden increase in load. Kollmorgen AKM motors have an electrically isolated thermistor in their windings to help monitor the temperature of the windings. Precisely monitored temperature in the windings leads to enhanced performance of the motor.
The AKM52G-BSC22-02 is a brushless synchronous servo motor designed and manufactured by Kollmorgen. It belongs to the AKM series. Motors in this series are designed to be used with Kollmorgen servo amplifiers in the ServoStar series. The AKM52G-BSC22-02 has a frame size measuring 108 millimeters, a NEMA rated flange, and is supplied with a special shaft. For positioning, the motor has a comcoder that delivers 2048 pulses per revolution. With a holding brake that is operated with a voltage of 24 Volts DC, the risk of unintentional shaft rotation is mitigated reducing the risk of damage to other devices and injury to personnel.
The Kollmorgen AKM52G-BSC22-02 features angular connectors that are rotatable making it easier to interface the motor with a controlling drive. This reduces the time it takes to initially set-up the motor or when replacing the motor consequently saving on the precious production time. The AKM52G-BSC22-02 has a rated operating temperature of between 5 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius at an altitude not exceeding 1000 meters above sea level. When mounted and operated above 1000 meters above sea level, the motor’s power derates up to 55 percent.
