Kollmorgen AKM motors are the best-in-class when seeking high-performance servo motors. With many co-engineered and standard models, the AKM motors are available for almost any application on the factory floor. AKM motors are designed to be used in packaging, textile, industrial robotics, among other applications. Standard AKM motors are designed to be mounted with the shaft either facing sideways upwards, or downwards. These motors can be mounted and operated in virtually any industrial environment provided ambient conditions are within the designated range. Motors in the Kollmorgen AKM series have varying ingress protection ratings depending on the type of connectors used and whether a shaft seal is provided.
The Kollmorgen AKM51E-HCS2R-02 is a brushless servo motor in the AKM series. To control the torque and speed, the AKM51E-HCS2R-02 is designed to be driven by a Kollmorgen AKD servo drive. A combination of an AKM servo motor with a Kollmorgen servo drive offers the qualities of a custom solution in less time and at a lower cost. Note that when an AKM motor is matched with an AKD drive of the same size, the resulting servo system delivers extra shaft power of up to 47 percent.
The AKM51E-HCS2R-02 is easy to use minimizing the set-up time and saving on crucial production time. With a ball bearing life of 20,000 hours of operation, the motor requires less maintenance. For the AKM51E-HCS2R-02 to reach optimal performance, it has to be operated in an industrial environment with a relative humidity not falling below 5 percent and not exceeding 95 percent. The motor is supplied with a 24 Volts DC holding brake. Note that the brake is not designed for continuous operation.
