Industrial automation received a complete overhaul with the introduction of AKM series motors from Kollmorgen. Industrial robots, packaging and textile machinery, machine tools, are among the top beneficiaries of the high motor density delivered by these motors. For optimal performance, Kollmorgen AKM motors are designed to be driven by Kollmorgen servo drives in the AKD series. These drives are used to control the motors’ speed or torque. To prevent damaging AKM series motors, Kollmorgen prohibits mounting and operating them in environments with high levels of dust, electrically conducting vapors, bases, acids, and or oils.

The AKM51E-ANCNC-00 is a Kollmorgen brushless servo motor in the AKM series. The motor is fitted with thermal sensors in its windings to help in precise monitoring and control of temperatures inside the motor’s frame. The AKM51E-ANCNC-00 has a frame size of 108 millimeters, a smooth shaft, and standard factory customizations. To enable precise positioning, the motor features a generation two single turn smart feedback device. For easier connections, the AKM51E-ANCNC-00 is shipped with two angular, rotatable connectors. With an international protection rating of IP 65, these connectors can withstand high levels of dust and low pressure water jets.

The Kollmorgen AKM51E-ANCNC-00 is designed to reach optimum performance when mounted and operated in an environment with a surrounding temperature of between 5 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius at an altitude not exceeding 1000 meters above sea level. The motor’s permissible operating relative humidity is rated at up to 95 percent without condensation. Note that the motor’s power derates by 17 percent, 30 percent, and 55 percent, when operated at an altitude of 3000 meters, 4000 meters, and 5000 meters above sea level.
